p.s. for all you folks who are concerened that i am doing something amoral–it's for a story i am writing that is fictional–and i want to know how this character would do this if they wanted to-because i don't know anything about cars–so you can rest easy, but thanks for your moral concern.

There are some things I know, like: I'll need to take it in to an independent mechanic to be inspected, as well as get the VIN# checked out for accidents, take it for a test drive. I'm looking to get a newer (2000-06), Automatic, used car and have a budget of about $8000.
But that's about it! I have no mechanical experience/ car knowledge. So what I want to know is:
What is a good type of car?
What is the range/limit of kilometers for a good car?
What kinda car has good gas milage?
What kind of cars should be avoided because they need alot of repairs?
What else do I need to think about before I buy a car?
The more I know before I get into the car lot, the better chance I'll have of not getting pushed around by a salesman who wants to sell me a piece of junk. I'd like to get a car that'll last me. If you have answers to any of these questions I would be so grateful!
I'm basically a city driver, and I carpool during the week so I plan on driving only on weekends maybe once or twice M-F.
About once a month I take a highway round trip of aprox 600km (340 miles) .

Where can I find a junk yard that houses the remains of wrecked cars? I'm not talking Ferrari or Lamborghini, but just cars like Lancer Evolution, Ford Mustang, Honda S2000.
Mid-class performance cars, you know what I mean?
I live in Fremont, California, and we only have one junk yard, Pick 'N' Pull. The problem is that they don't have any decent cars, all broken down crappy cars like mini vans and pick up trucks and the like.

I'm a new driver, looking for a used car under $8000, preferably under 100,000 miles. What kind of car is reliable and will last. I don't want just any piece of junk. I'm thinking Japanese cars are the way to go, but I really don't know anything about cars whatsoever. Help!

Has anyone ever noticed this besides me? Every time I clean my cars inside and out they seem to feel like they run smoother and have more horse power like they are happy. Especially if I vacuum the whole thing out and give it a nice wax job. It must be something mental making me feel this way since I know cleaning a car has nothing to do with how it runs. I guess it could if you have like 200lbs of junk in it of coarse that you clean out which is never my case. Anyone else get this mental feeling?

Factory mid 80's Regal sitting too low. Need to raise it. What other vehicle springs are compatible with my car? Going to a junk yard. Not fitting any rims either; want a bone stock ride height.
I've added shocks to the front alone and my car STILL sits low. I was used to a Lesabre I once had that sat so level and high. This Regal isn't giving me the same satisfaction.
