Are people driving cars not made by Government Motors unpatriotic?
saintwreck asked:
I have a problem… I drive a Toyota Camry. My neighbor drives a Ford. Since Government Motors is owned by the tax payers of the USA are we being un-American? What if Government Motors doesn't sell enough cars to become profitable? What if Government Motors needs more and more taxpayer bailouts over the next decade? Will I be allowed to keep my Toyota? What about my neighbor who owns a Ford? Will he be forced to junk his car and buy one from the government? OK… maybe things will not be so bad that he has to junk his car, but will he too be considered Un-American? He flies the stars and stripes… but what if he fails to drive a Government Motors car and favors one built by private enterprise and as a result taxpayers have to pay even more to keep their GM going… will he be considered unpatriotic? I grew up in Detroit back in the day when folks driving foreign cars would be forced off the road by members of the union. Will we may be seeing that happen again as taxpayers force us off the road because we are driving cars not made by Government Motors.

Drive whatever you want. No one is stopping you. And stop ranting about it.

People are going to spend their hard earned money on the most reliable and ultimately the best car they can find in terms of value for money. I hardly think they are going to buy GM just because the company needs bailing out due to poor management.
Furthermore car companies such as Honda and Toyota have massive production facilities in the US and many US jobs rely on these companies.
